GRE


The GRE Subject Test assesses candidates’ knowledge of a specific subject. Note that the GRE Subject Tests only cover Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics, and Psychology. The GRE Subject Test is generally required for admission to specialized courses/technical programs. The GRE Subject test is primarily administered three times per year on paper. GRE Subject Tests are given in September, October, and April. The GRE Subject test lasts 2 hours and 50 minutes, and candidates are only required to take one of the subjects.

    GRE stands for Graduate Record Examination. Aside from introducing the GRE home facility, ETS – the test’s administering body – has also allowed candidates who are eligible to take the GRE. GRE test scores are available 10 to 15 days after the test date and are accepted at thousands of master’s and doctorate programs worldwide.

    As the majority of universities around the world begin to accept GRE scores, an increasing number of students take the GRE. There are three formats for the GRE General Test:

    • The GRE Computer-Based Test is the GRE General Test administered on a computer at a GRE-approved testing center. Candidates should be aware that GRE Computer Based Tests are available in all countries with Internet access and computer technology. This online version of the GRE test is the most popular way to take the GRE General Test.
    • GRE Paper Based Test is a GRE test that is taken offline in locations with limited Internet or computer access. The GRE Paper-Based Test is a pen-and-paper GRE. In India, candidates must take the GRE Computer-Based Test.
    • GRE at Home Test: The GRE at Home is a GRE General Test that can be taken in the comfort of the candidates’ homes. The GRE at Home was launched during the pandemic to prioritize student safety, and the GRE test has been designed to be administered from home as long as the candidate meets the system requirements pre-determined by ETS and has a conducive environment for the duration of the GRE at Home Test.
